I am Alison and this is my Story
"My husband had a stroke, and was having disappointing recovery. I was able to research brain plasticity and so many topics on this site, and I desperately wanted to find something he could use to stimulate the neurons in the brain, but he couldn't use so many of the things, because of a brain stent. he still was having problem with drop foot and kept falling, but from all the research I did, i found a comment of a stroke patient testifying of how Dr. Adebola helped her recover from stroke completely, after disability of 2 years. With his roots and herbs healing power. So i also contacted Dr. Adebola via email address, and he gave us some instructions and also courier some roots and herbs (herbal medicine) via TRANSWORLD COURIER COMPANY. With a manual for assumption, which we followed accordingly. And today is the 9th day of assumption. And my husband is already walking. Please let's help anyone around us, going through this suffering. You can also contact Dr. Adebola via email address: dradebola@dr.com Or dr.adebola12@yahoo.com. Thanks for reading. Regards."

I am Tina and this is my Story!
"I suffered a stroke the night of June 23rd, 2012. I was at a restaurant, I was one of the belly dancers who was scheduled to dance that night. The music started and I remember starting my dance. I had the feeling of lightheadedness like the feeling of standing up too quickly. Everything went black. I woke up in the hospital the next afternoon. I wasn't totally conscious, but I was aware of things around me. I heard the doctors talking to my family, I recognized some words so I knew I had had a stroke. I was still intubated so I couldn't talk Oddly, I wasn't scared, I knew I was still supposed to be here. I spent 3 weeks in the stroke rehab unit, working fairly heavily on my rehab. I have regained my movement on the affected side (left,). It is still lacking coordination. I have strength and mobility, but not a lot of coordination."

I am Kavita and this is my Story!
I suffered a Suburachnoid Brain Haemorrhage at the age of 38years old. I have had 4 brain operations and despite all odds, I have come through spending months in hospital and then many months of recovery experiencing hearing loss, coordination loss, imbalance, vision problem etc I had to relearn a lot. I created my YouTube channel and videos showing my recovery stages. I’ve also just released my book which is on Amazon pre-order - Room 23 - surviving a Brain Haemorrhage. Before the stroke happened, Yes I had a siatica pain for months before from my back down my leg to the ankle. I’m very interested in sharing my story with your organization in preparation of my book release this AW18. 1. My memoir ‘Room 23’ is being released on e-book amazon November 2018, preorder available now. My YouTube channel link is below for the 3 main Video blogs that were done from my illness, I hope you have time to watch them approx. 15mins each, these are being shared on the BSF website and others too. Before this stroke my body showed all kinds of signs. I had no clue it was warning signs for a stroke. Please pay attention to your body. If something is not right stand up and push for help. Mine are from multiple brain lesions that break off bleed and cause strokes. I never know when this is going to happen. I have had two strokes. The last stroke was April 25, 2018. I woke up very dizzy and thought I only needed my Aspirin. I could not raise my right foot. I drove to get my Aspirin. I came back, ate breakfast and took all medicines. I had a chiro visit that day. I drove there. After my adjustment I grabbed the counter and lost my balance. I left there and went home to lay down. It was right then that I felt something pass over my forehead so quick. I got up and called 911 because my right side was numb. I got to the ER and my Neurologist was consulted over the phone. I had lost my memory for a couple of hours. At this point I did not realize my memory was gone. It wasn't until the doctor came back into the room and I was looking around did this occur to me. The decision was made not to give me the TPA shot. I was discharged and two weeks later made appointment with Neurologist. I explained all of my symptoms in great detail. He said I had a stroke of the thalamus. I also have Addison's of the pituitary and adrenals which had a great impact on. This has not been an easy journey. I was not sure if I was going to make it. Through much prayer and God helping me to persevere my body is slowly coming back. It has left me with some deficits. God has chosen for me to walk and talk. It has given me blurry vision in my right eye. My equilibrium is messed up. My right side is still weak and numb. I cannot drive my car. I am very grateful to God to be alive and share this story. Father God would you take this and use this for your glory to help one person. Before the stroke, I did notice health warning but had no clue it was stroke related.

I am Erin and this is my Story!
"The experience was scary. I was 33, I was at work on a call and my left side suddenly went numb and my brain went completely silent, I willed myself to function and went from there. My recovery has been a struggle. I started out great. I got out of the hospital, walking with a hemi walker within 4 days. I excelled at physical and occupational therapy until I hit my limit. I still have weakness in my left side and have occasional issues with balance and gaps in my thoughts and speech. Some days are just a struggle to do anything at all." Before the stroke, I had “floaters” in my field of vision, intermittent numbness in my affected side and “buzzing” in my brain. Lightheaded dizziness and tingling in limbs for months prior. I also want to say that I am following you and I think what you are working on is amazing, and lifesaving. I know my biggest fear is another stroke, and being able to monitor would give me such peace of mind. I also don’t care if you use my name. I am proud of my experience and love what you are doing.

I am Rachel and this is my Story!
It’s been two years and I’m still recovering physically cognitively and emotionally. I’m a professional dancer and personal trainer so I was already in great shape. I was born with an extremely rare brain malformation called an AVM, so I didn’t know I had it until I had a stroke. My health prior to stroke has helped in my recovery, but my left side is still slow and weak. I was paralyzed and couldn’t see on the left side and went through three surgeries. Holding conversations can be challenging, I run into things on my left side, I’ve gained weight, and I have to double check everything to make sure I am interpreting information properly. But I’ve been able to help other stroke survivors with their fitness and motivation. I’m blessed to have survived so I hope to help others reduce their risk of stroke. Yes, I did notice health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke. I experienced severe head pain where I lost my balance, couldn’t walk straight and didn’t know my arms were mine.

I am Sarah and this is my Story!
"Hi my name is Sarah and I am 36 years old. I live in Omaha Nebraska. On February 6, 2016 I took my then three-year-old daughter to the emergency room at 3 o’clock in the morning because of a severe earache. Once we arrived, we sat down to fill out paperwork and I lost feeling on the right side of my of my body. I was dizzy and confused. I knew something was wrong but I wasn’t firing on all cylinders. They took me back at Children’s Hospital got me stabilized and then took me next-door to the general hospital where I ended up spending the next five weeks. Because I was on Coumadin, a blood thinner, at the time that I had my first stroke, I had a hemorrhagic conversion 3 days later. Because of the bleeding in my brain, I almost lost my life. I am forever indebted to the hospital staff and therapists who have helped me regain independence. I still suffer from hemiparesis, aphasia, hemianopsia, and memory issues but I am alive! I was a successful marketing director at the time in which I had my strokes and because of my disabilities, I am unable to return to working professionally. I now volunteer at my church, spend time with my now six-year-old daughter, watch kids after school, work with a women’s ministry group, and I also have co-formed a group called the “Stromies” (stroke+homies) in order to encourage survivors would wide. Although I miss the pre-stroke version of myself, I am learning to love the new me daily. I am thankful for what I am able to do and I don’t take a single breath for granted. Romans 5:3 suffering, perseverance, character, hope." I did notice health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke, I had a headaech.

I was sleeping a lot and I was gaining a lot of weight. 5 days (started on Wednesday) again I had starting that my words were slurring bit. My Face was numb on my right side. Every day sensed to be worse much. I was sleeping a lot, I was eating a lot and I couldn’t talk right. Everything was wrong, but I couldn’t tell about things. Sunday April 1, 2018 I couldn’t talk anymore. I was in the hospital and I had been told that I was having a stroke. From the day I came in the hospital, I couldn’t see anything. My leg and my arm weren’t working on the right side. The next day I had surgery on the left neck and I was in the hospital for about 16 days. Before the stroke happened I really thought had noticed my wrists started hurting about 5 weeks ago. Every night my wrist was hurting more and more.

I had just completed my workout and went to the locker room to retrieve my backpack when I dropped my lock on the floor. As I went to retrieve it I lost my equilibrium and while trying to pick it up I ended up sitting on the floor, so I luckily didn’t fall. Then someone had called the manager of the health club who called 911 and I called my wife and after telling her I needed her to come and pick me up handed the phone to the manager who then provided it to the EMT’s who instructed her where to meet them. After the initial brain scan which showed a significant portion of my brain flooded with blood (my wife said it looked like one third of my brain was flooded with blood) they then decided that I needed to be sent to a trauma one hospital with Neurosurgeons on staff. They airlifted me to ORMC where they put drains into my brain to relieve the pressure and told my family I probably wouldn’t make it thru the night. supposedly I coded during this time period which may be the time when I went to a place where I said that this is too hard I’m going to give up and let myself go. I was then told that I am strong and must go back and fight thru this. Obviously, I was being told this isn’t my time to enter heaven. I was in ICU for 3 weeks with tubes down my throat and my head to drain blood. I was then transferred to BIRC (brain injury rehabilitation center). Upon arrival I couldn’t hold my head up since my left side was paralyzed. There I was still on a feeding tube for many weeks. They had to teach me how to swallow, talk, eat, learn how to function while in a wheelchair with my left side paralyzed, eventually with physical therapy and occupational therapy I was able to learn how to use a walker and thankfully how to properly use a cane. It’s amazing how much you forget about simple things that before seemed easy. Since there are steps into my house they then had to teach me how to climb steps. Even withholding on it seemed like I forgot how to do it. During my stay I was in excruciating pain in my hip and groin, this hindered the physical therapy since most days I was in too much pain to proceed even though I was on oxycodone every 4 hours and oxycontin every 12 hours. The physical therapist would ask the nurses to time it so my pain medication could be before I received physical therapy but even with that most days I was limited due to extreme pain, which no one could determine the cause for even with MRI’s and x-rays. I was able to leave there on October 20th, 2011 to go home. I was lucky that my wife set up my home to be wheelchair accessible. Although the cost of 24/7 home care was overwhelming the alternative was to go into a rehabilitation facility (nursing home) which insurance did cover. It was necessary since my left side was still paralyzed and I was a fall risk even with a walker. It was embarrassing and humbling since I went from being very modest and self-sufficient to needing to rely on others. I was determined to overcome my disabilities and with home speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy was able to get to the point where I could go to outpatient therapy. I then went to outpatient therapy in January of 2012. While there I went in with a walker and within 6 months was lifting weights and running down the hall (although at a snail’s pace and with the PT running backwards next to me.) It was the accomplishment that made it so incredible. I continued there for about a year when I decided that the cost was too much, so I decided to join a small fitness center at the community center near my home and do my physical therapy on my own. Plus, I do some balance and movement classes at the local senior center. I did not notice any health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke.

Experienced stroke in the cerebellum at age 48, days after having hair colored at the salon and having Bowens Physical Therapy. At the time, I was also experiencing a high amount of stress. Stroke was immediate with full paralysis on the right. I regained movement slowly waiting 12-15 hours and was able to walk away from the hospital a couple days later. I still experience fatigue, some aphasia, exhaustion, loss of depth perception, wobbling, poor hand grip, and audio and visual sensitivity. A TIA I experienced in December 2107 led to no answers as to why it occurred. Would I be willing to take a blood prick regularly at HOME in order to monitor the risk of a new stroke? I noticed health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke. Neck pain for several days prior, on the side of the stroke.

Did I mention that I’m probably the oldest Stroke survivor? I guess I must hold the record. I was only 28 in 1984 when I survived an arteriovenous malformation bleed and four other surgeries. Now at age 62, that means 34 years later I’m trying to complete a book The Brain Train. Today in Florida I suffer a heat intolerance and was wondering if this symptom is among any other survivors. I noticed health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke. Tried contacts for the first time - had visual disturbances.

I had several small strokes in the middle and after surgery for an aorta repair. I was on a ventilator for 5 days and the doctor wasn’t sure if I’d live or be paralyzed. Well after the 5 days, I finally started responding. I stayed in Rehab for 2 weeks and then came home. Each day is a new day but overall, I only now have cognitive issues and some motor skills deficits. I did not notice any health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke.

I am Bridget and this is my Story!
I was 24 weeks pregnant hiking with my daughter on my back in a carrier when I felt a “pop” in my head, and suddenly got the worst headache of my life. I rushed down the mountain I was hiking, stupidly drove myself and child home, and tried to sleep it off. In the middle of the night, I woke up to go to the bathroom and collapsed. At this point, I wasn’t coherent. My husband rushed me to the hospital, where they had done an MRI and found the hemorrhage. I was pregnant at the time, so they weren’t able to do a lot of the test they normally would do. They put a drain into my skull and we had to wait for the fluids to drain, and the swelling to go down. I was so heavily drugged, I really don’t remember much of this time. I was in the ICU for a month and a half. I couldn’t talk right, I had to learn how to re-walk, it was so difficult. They were keeping an extremely close eye on my unborn baby, and he was doing great despite all the setbacks! I had him via c section at 37 weeks. The cause of my hemorrhagic stroke was due to a ruptured AVM. Getting the AVM removed has been a journey in itself, they have attempted an embolism, talked about a craniotomy. But today I will actually begin radiation. It has been one long hard tough road. I did not notice any health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke.

I was a colorist in the comic book industry and I had a stroke at a comic con event. Was horrible but I refuse to let it take my joy for life.“ You can’t give up. My father was on dialysis for eight years and one day he said, ‘I’m not going back to dialysis anymore.’ He hated it, three hours on the table. And within three months he was dead. “He gave up.". "I refuse to give up. I’m walking every day. I’m doing my one-mile exercise tape every day. I’m not just going to just roll over and die.” I noticed some health warning signs hours or days before I had a stroke.
